IT Workshop

City Government (City Administration) Banda Aceh in cooperation with PT Telkom and the Agency for the Assessment and Development of Technology (BPPT), held a workshop for Information and Communication Technology Innovation, on Tuesday (25 / 1), in Building the IT Learning Center of Banda Aceh. The event was opened Deputy Mayor of Banda Aceh, Djamal Sa'aduddin Illiza SE, accompanied by Head of PT Telkom in Aceh, Muhammad Salmi.

Also present at the event, Director of Research and Technology Development Agency (BPPT), the Center, Dr. Hammam Riza Ir MSc. On that occasion, Hammam said he was confident the city of Banda Aceh city could become adopters of Information Technology (IT) best in the world, like the cities in Singapore, Tokyo in Japan, Hong Kong and Beijing in China, Seoul in South Korea, and San Francisco and New York in the United States.

According to him, there are several criteria that underlie the assessment of the city of Banda Aceh could become the best IT adopters. For example, call the Hammam, the availability of broadband or fiber-optic infrastructure, utilization of solar energy technology, wave, and geothermal, as well as free internet access facility provided by the government.

"We will help Pemko Banda Aceh create a master plan or map of the plan 10 years, and 10 years was not a long time. The city could become the city of Banda Aceh in Indonesia in the forefront of adopting technology quickly after the tsunami. Moreover, the phenomenon in Aceh are now readily available everywhere Wifi. It's not there in other cities, "said Hammam.

Meanwhile, Muhammad Salmi said, in 2010 there were 50 thousand people Internet users in the city of Banda Aceh. While subscribers only reached 20 thousand people. According to Telkom's head of Aceh, the number will increase again in 2011.
